Title: Plug-in Option Settings
Post by: Admin on March 29, 2010, 08:07:07 AM
I'm looking for some recommended option settings for the Perceptron -> Contour Probe.

Anyone have any good suggestions?

The standards are not bad.

You might want to lower the interpolation step a bit at 100% density as the point to point spacing is rather smaller thant the default 0.4mm (or the corresponding inch value).

You should download the latest patch and see the new automatic viewpoint. It's a great new addition... It has a bug in inches, but it's a great tool to help scanning in mm.

What size of object are you scanning? (that will help set the max edge length, the density...)

Thanks.  The object we scan typically is about 18"18"x18" or so.  I tried the plugin (in inches) and I had to increase the % to 300% and change the dynamic view to flat at 1/16 sampling for it to work well.

Regarding the Automatic viewpoint bug when working in inches; I have an easy workaround.  In the settings for the new viewpoint, there is a "percentage" value of 40.  This is not an actual percentage, I'm not sure what it really is.  :)  However if you take the desired % (default is 40) and multiply it by 12.7 or 25.4 (I can't remember which I did) you get a value that works well while in inches.

The latest patch just about to come out (11.0.15) fixes the units bug in the automatic viewpoint. A few other new things added, worth a download.
